ABOUT RUTHERFORD COUNTY:
Rutherford County is the fifth most populated county in Tennessee. Known as the "Heart of Tennessee," Rutherford County is located approximately 35 miles southeast of Nashville. This county offers residents the benefits of small town living but the amenities of a major metropolitan area. Not only is Rutherford County's economy growing, but its' population is as well. In March 2006, the United States Census Bureau named Rutherford County one of "Americas Fastest Growing Counties." Rutherford County is probably best known for being home to Stones River National Battlefield. Other local attractions include: Cannonsburgh Village, Oaklands Historic House Museum, the Sam Davis Home and the Discovery Center at Murfree Springs, Greenway Trail System, and Percy Priest Lake.
